Our standards

Editorial Policy

At Their Age exists to give parents guidance they can understand and evaluate. These standards govern sourcing, original analysis, AI-assisted drafting, human review, corrections, and commercial independence.

Sourcing

We prioritize primary and authoritative sources, show important sources where practical, and avoid presenting opinion as established fact. When evidence is limited or the recommendation is primarily editorial judgment, the page should say so.

Original analysis

Our value is in the reasoning, not in restating somebody else’s list. Recommendations should be filtered through the At Their Age framework and explained in a way that lets a parent understand the tradeoffs.

AI-assisted drafting and human review

We may use AI tools to help organize research, draft or restructure prose, suggest internal links, and support quality checks. Every published recommendation remains subject to human review. AI is a drafting aid, not the editorial decision-maker.

Corrections

When we find a material error, we correct it. If an error changes the meaning of a recommendation, the update should be noted clearly enough that returning readers can understand what changed.

Commercial independence

Affiliate links, sponsorships, advertising, or other commercial relationships do not determine our editorial recommendations. When a commercial relationship exists, it should be disclosed clearly.

Not professional advice

At Their Age provides general educational guidance. It is not medical, legal, psychological, developmental, or safety advice for a specific child. For decisions with legal, health, or safety implications, use qualified professional guidance and applicable local rules.
